Listen back on our discussion on the importance of voting in local elections ahead of the Oakland Special Election on 4/15. Please welcome our guest: Sloane Noel-Johnson!
Sloane was born, raised and proudly resides in East Oakland. An artist at heart, she describes her work as “mixed-medium displays of artivism, resistance, pain and love”—including 3D pieces and 2D graphics that help inspire and energize social justice activities. Amplifying and honoring the voices of African American youth and youth of color are common threads in the tapestry of Sloane’s powerful creations and point of view.
“I hope to ignite in viewers the duty to use whatever platform they have to take a stand, speak out against hate, create change and bring love.”
