Join pediatric health care experts, nurses, kindergarten and preschool teachers, child care providers, parents, and community leaders across the county in voting Yes on Measure C this March 3rd, 2020.

Measure C, the Children’s Health and Child Care Initiative for Alameda County, would approve a half-cent sales tax to fund two very critical measures of child welfare:

– expanding free and low-cost health care & emergency services
– child care & preschool programs.

We expect Measure C to dedicate a whopping $150 million per year to expand access to free and low-cost health care and emergency services for kids at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (CHO). Measure C would also make it easier for families to get quality child care, preschool, and early education for their kids across Alameda County!

Research shows that the first five years in a child’s life are the most crucial to their brain development. Yet, Alameda County falls behind in preparing and equipping kids with high quality early health and child care necessary to their development before arriving to kindergarten.

All our children deserve access to high-quality health and child care programs that will set them up to succeed, regardless of family income. Sign up now to make quality care for our kids a reality!

Measure C will also ensure that child care workers and early educators earn at least $15 per hour throughout Alameda County. When our child care workers make a decent livable wage and have the chance to thrive, our whole communities can thrive with them. When we pay early educators a living wage, we make it possible for the people who care for our kids in every stage of life to start their careers, stay in these crucial jobs, and provide the best care possible for our kids as the experts they are.

Child care is the work that makes all other work possible. Can we count on you to knock on doors with us in the next few weeks to make sure we provide the best child care possible in Alameda County for generations to come? Sign up to volunteer with us!

We hope you will join us at the ballot box & vote YES on Measure C on March 3rd, 2020.

Oakland Rising and our collaborative partners are united in our vision for a city that embodies health, happiness, safety, and equal opportunities for all. Our goal is to create a model of progress and sustainability that showcases the possibilities for American cities in the 21st century. We are committed to dismantling the barriers of racial, economic, political, environmental, and educational inequities that have divided us, and instead, embracing the collective strength found in our city’s diversity. We firmly believe that Oakland can achieve its full potential when every resident, student, and bus rider has the ability to shape our city’s future. This vision is attainable and we are determined to realize it through our collective actions, whether it’s through voting, meetings, or call to actions.

Every year, we release a Vision, Issues, and Policy Platform (VIPP) which outlines the annual policies that we and our eight partner organizations prioritize in order to advance racial, economic, and environmental justice in the Town. Our collaborative’s agenda encompasses a range of critical initiatives, from expanding affordable housing to creating a more equitable democracy through campaign finance reforms. These priorities are designed to provide vital protections and innovative solutions for the most vulnerable members of our community. As we continue our efforts to promote these policies, we hold conversations with thousands of voters, lead and co-host impactful town hall meetings, educate and mobilize residents and voters, and undertake various other initiatives.

To gain a deeper understanding of our commitment to resist, protect, and advance in this political moment, we invite you to explore our 2023 Vision, Issues, and Policy Platform. Together, we are making strides towards a more equitable and just Oakland, and we remain steadfast in our pursuit of change, one vote, one meeting, one march at a time.
